A few dramatic events lately to post...

  • I rear ended a BMW driving foreigner. He short-breaked at a stop sign and gassed it like he was going to go, decided he couldn't make it across traffic and slammed on his brakes. I had, of course, already turned my head to make the turn, hit the gas, and tapped his bumper. So, two hair line scratches on the back of his car will probably cost me a pretty penny. AND of course, he called his insurance on the spot and reported it....he bought the car at Carmax and has it insured with Geico...bet he sure has deep pockets. Whatever. Still waiting to here the estimate of damage.
  • Bo had a mouse in his apartment. His complex backs up to an open field where I assume the unpleasant little rodent migrated from for warmth. I was sitting in the living room when it scurried across the carpet and you'd have thought I was held at gunpoint I squealed so loud. Needless to say, we ran straight to Albertsons where we purchased 6 mouse traps and strategically placed them along the most likely baseboard paths. Those things are a bitch to set by the way. I snapped my fingers at least 3 times.... We were successful though - the little guy was attracted to our peanut butter bait and bit the dust during the night. He was properly disposed of this morning.
  • My garbage disposal malfunctioned while doing the dishes yesterday. I was cleaning up the last of lunch when I felt water dripping onto my toes. Sure enough, I opened the cabinets below the sink and it was flooded with water and ground food particles. Disgusting. I had to pull all the stuff out from under the cabinet, wipe off and salvage what I could, and soak up the standing water. Ick. I will say I was impressed with my apartment complex maintenance department. Fortunately, I had never had a reason to call. But they responded to my Saturday afternoon call within an hour and fixed me all up. And then called this morning to follow up and make sure my request had been taken care of. Good thing I pay them too much in rent.
